BEING DISCIPLINED WITH MY HAPPINESS ALLOWED ME TO BECOME THE FATHER I WANTED TO BE.

It’s really tough trying to keep things together in this day and age.

We live in a world where we are spread very thin and time is a resource that not many of us have to spare.
Well, we all have the same amount of hours in the day.

So where is it all going, and why am I not able to use any of that time for myself?

This is a question that is often a huge hurdle in making any changes for ourselves because we can’t quite see where we can fit any changes in.

🎉Almost 3 years ago now I became a father.

My life turned around in many ways, with so much joy and love added, but also a massive question on my mind.

What do I do about myself now?

Fortunately, I had already gotten this covered with the way I had chosen to set up my life, but the plan that I had meant nothing without one thing.

DISCIPLINE!

❓ I want to stay fit and healthy.

❌ I don’t have time in the day to fit that in because of all of the added stuff that I now have to do and I’m so tired.

✅ Get up early, communicate with those around you how important this is for you, and make it happen.

❓I need some time to myself to do something creative.

❌ I don’t have time in the day to fit that in because of all of the added stuff that I now have to do.

✅ Communicate with those around you how important this is for you, and make it happen.
It was a hard struggle at first. The lack of sleep was a killer and the extra responsibilities made it very tough to find the time.

At the end of the day, there were a million excuses I could have forged out, but that would not get me where I wanted to be.
It was not easy, but then again letting myself get to a place where I had given up on myself and given all my energy to everything else would not be easy to bear either.

So I had to stay disciplined.

A few tweaks here and there along the way and I had a plan that fulfilled some of my needs, so I was able to sleep knowing that I’m doing what I can, but that I also was able to show up as a husband and a father in the best way possible.

So where do we start?

START WITH DISCIPLINE! and then rip up whatever it is you are currently doing and start from scratch.

❓ What is it you want to achieve?

❓What do you actually want in your day?

❓What do you believe you need to be doing right now that can bring you some enjoyment?

Sometimes it can be only the smallest of things that you need each day, but because we overcomplicate them it makes it seem impossible.

Do you need some peacetime?

Enjoy reading?

✅ Instead of watching a movie, TV, or screen time, schedule time for yourself to sit with your book for 20 mins a day.

Do you need a way to express yourself?

Like drawing, knitting, or sudoku?

✅ Get up before the family and get in a bit of that time with what you need.

The solutions are always very simple, and we need to keep them that way.

If you are looking for a more sustainable way to live, look after yourself first and keep it simple with the things that you need.

You will start to find that you show up for those you love in a much better mood and start to find that you are fulfilled at the end of the day.

WHY?

Because you stayed disciplined with what you needed.

My Name is Joey and I am a Life Coach under George Helou with EP7. I have been in the coaching industry for over 12 years within sports, health and fitness, but moved into the path of life coaching in 2016. After coaching many clients over my time I realised that a large part of my passion came from helping people through change and reinvention. Although this process is followed in my previous coaching role I felt I have so much more to give and offer people through the techniques and skills I have learnt through my time working with George.
